More Soul...

As you know, I love Soul Cycle.  I didn't think I could love a work out class more than the original spin class at Soul Cycle but this week I tried Soul Bands... and holy moly, it was amazing!!!  I convinced my pal Erica to come with me and she LOVED it too.  It was her first SC experience and she killed it.

The bands class is an hour-long spin class (actually our class was accidentally 1hr and 15 mins!) that incorporates resistance bands.  There are four bands that hang from the ceiling over each individual bike; two heavy bands and two lighter bands.  The work out alternates between just spinning and spinning while doing who knows what with the resistance bands (arms, abs, back...).  It took a lot of coordination and strength!  I am still a bit tired from the class and it has been 48 hours.

my father's daughter's blueberry muffin recipe...

This past weekend Matt and I headed to our local farmer's market and picked up some amazing blueberries.  So I decided to finally use Gwyney's cook book and make her Blueberry Muffins.  My sister-in-law had made them for us a few weeks ago and they were super delish!

1. I think she is an excellent writer (I read her book 'Black Heels to Tractor Wheels')

2. I love how she photographs every step of a recipe.  Seeing a recipe step by step makes me say "Oh, I think I could make this!"

Maria vs. Irene

Uh oh - it is ON this weekend!

Maria vs. Irene!!!  And I am not talking about a cat fight...

Beyonce

Last night my NYC bestie Maria got us tix to see the one and only Beyonce!  She's so pretty and such a fun dancer / performer.  With that being said I wasn't dying over the show.  I am not familiar with her new songs but I did like her old stuff.

So, her show was basically a history lesson - the history of Beyonce.  She started with some Destiny's Child songs... then went in to her Dream Girls stuff... then her solo stuff.  Before every song she gave the exact date / time it was released.  During the show she also talked about how Jay-Z poposed on March 4th, her dad's bday is on Sept 4th, Obama was elected on Nov 4th.  It was pretty weird and there were a lot of dates floating around.  I turned to Maria and said in "1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue."  Bahahahaha.

Single ladies was awesome of course!  She and 5 back ups did the whole dance.  That was the highlight of the night.

Happy Hour

Howdy!  Last night I headed over to Paris Club in Chicago with a few work friends.  It was such a beautiful day that we wanted to sit outside somewhere.  Paris Club has an awesome roof top that seems hidden away and a bit of a secret.
