Fun Fact Holiday!

Merry almost Christmas, Bedoozlers!

Emily and I are busy baking cookies and watching one of our favorite holiday movies, Home Alone.  If you love Kevin McCallister as much as we do then you will enjoy today's fun facts...

1.  The picture Kevin finds of Buzz's girlfriend was actually a picture of a boy made up to look like a girl because the director thought it would be too cruel to make fun of a girl like that.

2.  The role of Uncle Frank was written for Kelsey Grammer.

Via

3.  Robert De Niro turned down the role of Harry.

Zoo Lights

Another fun thing to do if you are in Chicago this Holiday Season is go to the Lincoln Park Zoo for their annual Zoo Lights!  The Lincoln Park Zoo holds a special place in my heart because I got married next door at Cafe Brauer.

The Zoo Lights are free and they have lots of things to do, you can see the animals, sip hot cider, and listen to Christmas music while walking around the entire zoo.  Click here to get more information.

Here are a few (blurry) pictures from our visit:

Send a call from Santa!

KT and I had a lot of fun having Santa call our friends and family and you can do it too, for free!

Head on over to Google (here) and have Santa call a friend or family member.  It is super fun, you may even become addicted.

I also saw on Cup of Jo that you can add Santa in a picture of your living room.  I wish we had this back when I was a kid!

Santa on the El!

Howdy Bedoozlers!

Went on a bit of a break from blogging but KT and I feel refreshed and have lots of fun posts for this Christmas week.  First off, my hubby and I took the El (elevated train system) in Chicago last week and we randomly got to ride on the 2011 Holiday Train!

Here are a few photos:

Exterior of the Train - Christmas music playing!

Inside the Train - Christmas music playing in here too!

The best part, Santa rides the train!

If you are in Chicago, check out the schedule here if you want to ride the train.

On Sunday my husband and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary.  We took out the top layer of our wedding cake from the freezer and had my parents over for a slice.  To our surprise it was just as good as on the day of our wedding, so good job Sweet Mandy B's!  However, it didn't look as good as it did on our wedding day...

Christmas Cookies

KT & I are planning on making Christmas cookies when she gets back to Chicago on 12/23 and I really want to get the following items from William-Sonoma:

We will make the standard sugar cookie but we like to buy our frosting from Sweet Mandy B's (where my wedding cake was from).  They have the most amazing frosting.  Hopefully these cookies will be a big hit!  What treats do you like to make for the holidays?

Happy December!

Happy December 2011 y'all.  Here are some fun facts about our current month.

1.  December 6th is St. Nicholas Day - On the Eve of St. Nicholas Day shoes or stocking are left for St. Nicholas to fill during the night.  Only well behaved children will receive small gifts, fruit, nuts, or special Nicholas candies and cookies.  St. Nicholas gifts are meant to be shared, not hoarded for oneself.

Via

2.  December 22nd is the 1st day of Winter - The winter solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

Via

3.  December's flower is the Paper White Narcissus.  The Narcissus symbolizes self esteem.

Via
4.  Party Time!  There are four holidays to celebrate in December - Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year's Eve, and Hanukkah.

Countdown to Christmas!

Deck the Halls, Ya'll!  (Sorry we have been MIA the last week.)

Now that it is 12/1/2011 we thought we would post about the Advent Calendar that I made with my friend Jackie.

She is super crafty and made these in photoshop and printed them on a heavy card stock.  Jackie found this idea here.

She put a twist on it by making it a part of her tree decorations and I did the same, making it kind of like garland.

Have you guys made any fun Christmas decorations?
