Sipping on the Slopes

Via

Starbucks has just made my day, they have opened a ski-thru store in Squaw Valley.  Now I myself am more of a Beaver Creek, CO kind of girl but I may just have to try out Squaw Valley just for this Starbucks experience.  Hopefully it will be a success and they will eventually open one in Beaver Creek.  That would be amazinggggg.

I sound like such a skinny latte drinking ski brat right now.

BHLDN

The people who have brought us Urban Outfitters and Anthropoligie now have a bridal and party dress retail store called BHLDN (pronounced beholden).  The first location is in Houston and their second location just opened in Chicago at 8 East Walton St, in my hood!

The store opened on 2/14 and I can't wait to check it out this weekend.  I am actually going with my friend Meg to her first dress fitting at Ultimate Bride, so I am hoping we can stop by BLHDN after.  Read more about it here.

Barbie's Dream Closet

I have been doing a lot of Chicago posts, so here is one for you NYCers!

Via

Obviously, you know that it is fashion week in NYC and this year they are doing a Barbie Dream Closet exhibit at the David Rubinstean Atrium across from the Lincoln Center tents.

Via

The "Dream Closet" has life-size Barbies in today's fashions.  You can walk into the many different closets to look at all of the beautiful pieces, like a gold beaded Oscar de la Renta gown.  There are lots of fun interactive activities and the pop-up is open through this weekend (9am to 10pm).  So make sure to go check it out!

RM Champagne Salon is opening in Chicago soon and I cannot wait!  The name is short for the French label récoltants manipulants, which means the wine comes from farmers who grow their own grapes and bottle their own wine.  The salon will be a small, intimate space "tucked-away cobblestone alley off the West Loop's" Randolph Street.

Via
The decor is inspired by Grace Kelly with lots of vintage antique items, and candles everywhere.  Besides champagne, they will also serve cheese, sandwiches, pastries, petite fours, all made by their pastry chef.  I cannot wait to go - how about you???  Read more about it here.

Love-Doozle!

What are you doing for Valentine's Day?  Hopefully something fun and romantic with your luvas!  Enjoy the V-Day fun facts below.  XOXO

Girls of medieval times ate bizarre food on St. Valentine's Day to make them dream of their future spouse.

Physicians of the 1800's commonly advised their patients to eat chocolate to calm their pining for lost love.

Via
73% of people who buy flowers for Valentine's Day are men, while only 27% are women.

15% of U.S. women send themselves flowers on V-Day.

Via

The most fantastic gift of love is the Taj Mahal in India.  It was built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan as a memorial to his wife.

Via

In the US, 64% of men do not make plans in advance for a romantic Valentine's Day with their sweethearts.

In olden times, some people believed that if a woman saw a robin flying overhead on V-day, it meant she would marry a sailor.  If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor mand and be very happy.  If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a rich man.

Woohoo for Jason Wu!

I am feeling better today about Target since on Monday they debuted Jason Wu's line of affordable clothing and accessories.  Shortly after midnight the collection become available and was sold out a few hours later but hopefully they will stock up and I can get a few pieces from the collection.

Via

Were any of you able to buy anything?!

So long, farewell...

As you already may know, Michael Graves design collaboration with Target ends in March.  Are you as sad as I am?  Not only does this mean no more great designed items at Target but the latest line of products, that will launch in March, will be super hard to get.  Think Target + Missoni.  Ugh.

Not happy, not happy at all.

Bento Boxes

Howdy Ya'll -

Have you guys seen the lunches that Japanese moms are making for their kids?

Via

Via

They are insane!  Moms will get up hours before their kids head off to school to make them an elaborate lunch.  It has become a kind of competition between moms, of who can make the most fabulous bento box.

Via

Via

They are all so creative and they must take forever to make.  The sad things is the kids eat them in just a few minutes!  Watch the video here to learn more.

TGIF!

I am reading the Steve Job's biography by Walter Isaacson. I really like it and highly recommend you read it! So, on that note here are some SJ/Apple fun facts for your enjoyment.

If you opened up the case of the original Macintosh, you will find 47 signatures. One for each member of Apple's Macintosh division as of 1982.

Via

Steve drove without a license plate for years: Jobs drove his 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL55 for years with no official license plate, just a barcode.

Via

Steve patented the glass staircase in the Apple Store: He is listed among the group of inventors for 317 Apple patents.

And we are back...

Happy 2012 Bedoozlers!  Sorry we have been MIA.

I don't know about you but I love to start the new year with a new season of the Bachelor.  I get together with 3 of my NYC girlfriends every week to watch this train wreck. This season its Ben Flajnik the looooser from Ashley's season.  I am not a fan of his hair or his mediocre personality but the drama is always entertaining.  http://abc.go.com/shows/the-bachelor/bios

The best part of each show is the next day when this blog:  http://secondaryembarrassment.com/ posts the recap.  Check it out for a good laugh.

Via
Also, I just read that Emily Maynard is the next Bachelorette.  Can't wait for that season!!

Do you watch the Bachelor??
