Sharing Tuesday - Family Addition

Hi Ya'll -

Sorry we have been so MIA.  We promise to be better this week!

We have two guest posts today to make up for our laziness.  Our cousin Sara and her soon to be Sister-in-Law, Shoshana! Sho has her own blog, The Adventures of a Future Housewive  that you should all go check out!  Shoshana posts about all things fabulous.  They both have amazing taste so they decided to do posts on the "Living Room Must-Haves."  Enjoy!

Miss Sara's Must-Haves:

1.      Vintage Toledo Chair [Restoration Hardware] I’ve been swooning over this piece for a while now. It reminds me of school labs and dreams of architectural design.

2.      Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello [Amazon] Simply a beautiful opportunity to learn about a great house and an inspiring architect.

3.      Day 1: Vintage Erasers by Lisa Congdon [print available at 20x200] Everyone should have at least one collection; Lisa Congdon has a whole year of them. Check out her book or blog for more information.

4.      Carpenter Lamp [CB2] I like as much space to work as possible. This clamp lamp stays out of my way, and its bold yellow provides the right injection of color.

5.      Missouri Pillow [sundance] I wish embroidery was the future of mapmaking, but alas, it makes a memorable pillow.

6.      Tivoli Model 3 Clock Radio [DWR] A story by Ira Glass is just that much better when heard through this radio.

7.      Vintage Blue Ball Mason Jars [thrifted] Tinted mason jars are lovely. I use them to store desk supplies, baking ingredients, silverware, my toothbrush, and of course, wildflowers.

8.      Dexter Leather Sofa [Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams] This sofa’s warm leather and down cushions are the perfect place to cozy up with a book.

9.      Vintage Oushak Rug [Jayson Home & Garden] I wish this vegetable-dyed rug would travel across the Atlantic and land just below my feet.

Miss Sho's Must-Haves:

1. Zebra Stenciled Hide Black/Off White {Furbish Studio} -- A pop of animal print is always a fun touch.

2. Wellington Settee {Jayson Home & Garden} -- I like to jazz up my living room through accessories so I start with a great piece of neutral furniture. It's oh so versatile and chic, what's not to love?

3. Tocca Candle, Cleopatra {Sephora} --  Personalizing a space is essential to me whether it's monogramming or a wall of family photos. One of the ways in which I personalize a space is through this candle. I wear the perfume version of this scent everyday so it's not only a signature for me but also for my home.

4. Linen Spot Pillow {Furbish Studio} -- I love differing textures in a room and this linen pillow is just the ticket.

5. Everglades Tray {Z Gallerie} -- A bright, punchy Hermes orange is always considered a staple.

6. Peonies {your local florist} -- Honestly, I cannot think of anything more lovely than a bouquet of peonies. Who doesn'tadore them?

7. Adventure Awaits Globe {Art on Globes} -- My bedroom all throughout my childhood was covered with maps + globes and I haven't been able to grow out of them since. Not that I'd want to.

8. Encyclopedia of the Exquisite : An Anecdotal History of Elegant Delights {Amazon} -- As an Anglophile and a lover of Art History, this book makes the perfect coffee table book. The entries are thoroughly fascinating - the history of red lipstick, the history of champagne, etc. Even Sarah Jessica Parker is a fan!

9. Acrylic Lamp {Vintage} -- Acrylic pieces are a fun way to add lightness to a room. I love that it adds a bit of quirkiness to this otherwise plain, vintage lamp. Acrylic coffee tables and desk chairs are also fantastic pieces.

A Saturday Night in Chicago

Hey guys!  Did you all have a good weekend?

Kate and I had a great time in Chicago.  It was so fun to have her home for a few days.  On Saturday night we had dinner and went out with some friends.  If you live in Chicago or are planning a visit you should definitely try these places!

Dinner - Gilt Bar - Family Style dining, great food and great atmosphere!

Bars - The Bedford, an old bank vault that has been turned into a bar.

Fun Fact Friday!

When I was studying abroad Kate would send me fun facts in all of her emails.  Usually she would try to make them about the citys I was visiting that weekend.  So, Kate and I thought it would be fun to start Fun Fact Friday where she posts her fun facts!  Enjoy :-)

1.  If you toss a penny 10,000 times, it will not be heads 5,000 times, but more like 4,950.  The heads picture weights more, so it ends up on the bottom.

2.  The average person is about a quarter of an inch taller at night.

Kate is coming back to Chicago for the weekend and we have lots of fun Sister Time planned.  What are you guys up to?

Summer's Here, Drink Up!

With summer quickly approaching I thought I would share my summer drink of choice - Rose Wine.  It is so delish and refreshing!!!

Last summer I was introduced to a particularly good brand, Wolffer Rose (its the only Rose served in the White House!).  The Wolffer Winery is located in the Hamptons on Long Island, NY.

Not only should you check out the wine, if you are on the East Coast I recommend a vineyard tour.  OR even better, if you are getting married I would suggest it as an amazing wedding venue.  I think I want to get married there...now I just have to find a husband!

Sharing Tuesdays

Hi Ya'll.  Today we are going to start a new monthly post called "Sharing Tuesday."  This is where we will post about another blog that we love or have guests come and post on our blog.

Share Bear

Today, I would like to introduce you to one of our favorite blogs on the web, Triple Max Tons or TMT.

TMT is all about design, life, and being creative.  Kirsten, the creator of TMT, is able to give great advice on all things chic as well as show how funny and witty she is through her writing.  Not to mention, Kirsten is also one of my best friends.

WMF Kitchen Organizer

Exiciting Kitchen Update - Matt and I ordered our cabinets on Saturday.  We are aiming for demolotion to begin on July 11th and I cannot wait!

Today's post is about WMF Kitchen Organizer.  Not sure if you guys have any WMF products, like their amazing serving spoons and ladles...

Found at Bloomingdales Home

If you do not have any, you should, because they are amazing.

WMF also has an unbelievable organizer that we are debating about installing in our kitchen.

You can hang your spoons, ladles, knives all in one handy spot.  I am thinking above our range.

I found this system at Unica Home

What do you think?  Is it worth installing?

Bridal Party Party / Surprise Man Shower

Last year we had lots of pre-wedding events like our engagement party, wedding shower, & rehearsal dinner.  My all-time favorite was when the entire bridal party and dates all got together and we had a Surprise Man Shower for Matt.

Matt is the one on the far left, how cute is he?!?

My brother was nice enough to host the party.  We all got Matt fun "manly gifts" like booze, Cubs Tshirts, McDonalds Giftcards, etc.  It was such a fun night.  It was warm enough to sit out on my brother's roof, even though it was October!

Keeping warm by the fire pit
Kate and Me

It was such an amazing night.  A great way for our bridal party to get to know each other.  So.. we are doing it again!  This time Matt and I are hosting for our friends Matt and Erin who are getting married in August.  We are going to have a party on our roof top in June and I am starting to plan the night.

I am thinking everything in pink and black (all from Target) with some pink peonies as centerpieces.
For the ladies, I want to make SkinnyGirl's new White Sangria.  How cute is that glass container from Target instead of a pitcher?

I will make sure to post pictures after the party!  Do you guys have any fun / unique ideas for pre-wedding parties?

Notebooks I met and Liked...

This afternoon I recieved a care package from my cute-doozle Sis.  In it was her wedding video (which I cannot wait to watch!) and an adorable book she found a J.Crew.  Em wants me to write down all my hilarious dating tales...

http://archiegrand.jetshop.se/-p-146.aspx

I love these little notebooks and they are pretty cheapo.  Snag one online or at your local J.Crew.

Bodum Drinkware

My husband has a thing about glasses, he hates when they start sweating or what he calls "dewing."  When we started registering for wedding gifts we were totally overwhelmed by the amount of options there are from dishes, to knives, to pots and pans, we definitely did not know what we were doing.   Through that process we came across the most amazing brand...Bodum.  All of their glasses are double insulated so that you never have any dew!   Here are a few of our favorites...

Bodum "Canteen" Double-Wall Pint Glasses - Handmade, can be used for hot and cold drinks

Bodum "Presso" with Cream Logo Grip - Can be used for hot or cold drinks.  Grip comes in fun colors.

Bodum "Pavina" Porcelain Cup - an amazing mug.  Grip comes in fun colors.

Bodum "Yo-Yo" Steel Glass Set - Say goodbye to tea bags with this tea strainer and double wall glass!

Check them all out at bodumusa.com!

Evolution of Smooth

Do you suffer from chapped lips?  Are you constantly trying out new lip balms?  If you are like me, everywhere I turn I have a lip balm.  I have 3 in every purse, I have one on my night stand, one in the kichen, one on the coffee table, a couple on my desk at work.  I like to keep them handy because I constantly have chapped lips, especially in the winter.  I just recently figured out my regimen and I thought I would share it today!

My night time lip balm:

Blistex - this is my heavy duty stuff that I know will stay on while I get my beauty sleep.

My many day time lip balms:

My new fav!  Comes in amazing flavors, easy to roll on, and in a fun shape!

Love LypSyl, another heavy duty one.  I have one in each purse.

These are all from Walgreens, check them out the next time you are there!
