Sorry we have been so MIA. We promise to be better this week!
We have two guest posts today to make up for our laziness. Our cousin Sara and her soon to be Sister-in-Law, Shoshana! Sho has her own blog, The Adventures of a Future Housewive that you should all go check out! Shoshana posts about all things fabulous. They both have amazing taste so they decided to do posts on the "Living Room Must-Haves." Enjoy!
1. Vintage Toledo Chair [Restoration Hardware] I’ve been swooning over this piece for a while now. It reminds me of school labs and dreams of architectural design.
2. Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello [Amazon] Simply a beautiful opportunity to learn about a great house and an inspiring architect.
3. Day 1: Vintage Erasers by Lisa Congdon [print available at 20x200] Everyone should have at least one collection; Lisa Congdon has a whole year of them. Check out her book or blog for more information.
4. Carpenter Lamp [CB2] I like as much space to work as possible. This clamp lamp stays out of my way, and its bold yellow provides the right injection of color.
5. Missouri Pillow [sundance] I wish embroidery was the future of mapmaking, but alas, it makes a memorable pillow.
6. Tivoli Model 3 Clock Radio [DWR] A story by Ira Glass is just that much better when heard through this radio.
7. Vintage Blue Ball Mason Jars [thrifted] Tinted mason jars are lovely. I use them to store desk supplies, baking ingredients, silverware, my toothbrush, and of course, wildflowers.
8. Dexter Leather Sofa [Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams] This sofa’s warm leather and down cushions are the perfect place to cozy up with a book.
9. Vintage Oushak Rug [Jayson Home & Garden] I wish this vegetable-dyed rug would travel across the Atlantic and land just below my feet.
Miss Sho's Must-Haves:
1. Zebra Stenciled Hide Black/Off White {Furbish Studio} -- A pop of animal print is always a fun touch.
2. Wellington Settee {Jayson Home & Garden} -- I like to jazz up my living room through accessories so I start with a great piece of neutral furniture. It's oh so versatile and chic, what's not to love?
3. Tocca Candle, Cleopatra {Sephora} -- Personalizing a space is essential to me whether it's monogramming or a wall of family photos. One of the ways in which I personalize a space is through this candle. I wear the perfume version of this scent everyday so it's not only a signature for me but also for my home.
4. Linen Spot Pillow {Furbish Studio} -- I love differing textures in a room and this linen pillow is just the ticket.
5. Everglades Tray {Z Gallerie} -- A bright, punchy Hermes orange is always considered a staple.
6. Peonies {your local florist} -- Honestly, I cannot think of anything more lovely than a bouquet of peonies. Who doesn'tadore them?
7. Adventure Awaits Globe {Art on Globes} -- My bedroom all throughout my childhood was covered with maps + globes and I haven't been able to grow out of them since. Not that I'd want to.
8. Encyclopedia of the Exquisite : An Anecdotal History of Elegant Delights {Amazon} -- As an Anglophile and a lover of Art History, this book makes the perfect coffee table book. The entries are thoroughly fascinating - the history of red lipstick, the history of champagne, etc. Even Sarah Jessica Parker is a fan!
9. Acrylic Lamp {Vintage} -- Acrylic pieces are a fun way to add lightness to a room. I love that it adds a bit of quirkiness to this otherwise plain, vintage lamp. Acrylic coffee tables and desk chairs are also fantastic pieces.
